Since early on in its inception, street art has gone hand-in-hand with fashion. Keith Haring’s figures have influenced many fashion collections, and more recently, so have Banksy’s, popping up everywhere from couture to tattoos to t-shirts. From Jean Paul Gaultier’s frequent graffiti-inspired runway looks to Louis Vuitton’s 2013 collaboration with street artist EINE, the runway has been borrowing from the subway for as long as we can remember. And there is nothing more New York than street art, in the realest sense of the word. Just last year, beauty behemoth Urban Decay released a capsule collection in honor of Jean-Michel Basquiat, the visionary, misunderstood icon of the art world that embodied the city's soul.

This year, makeup mecca Sephora is spreading the love with the release of a much-anticipated collaboration with acclaimed street artist and photographer, James Goldcrown. Known for his Instagram-famous “Love Wall,” as well as the “Bleeding Hearts” murals seen across the country from New York to Los Angeles — and internationally in Japan and Brazil — the London-born, New York-based artist has picked up the spray paint can to spread a message of love, community, and peace. Now, Goldcrown’s art will adorn a selection of the Sephora brand’s makeup bags, a heartfelt treat for anyone wishing to transform their vanity into an art gallery.

For those whose vestiges match their values, Verge was proud to design a limited-edition collection of cosmetic bags for the Sephora and James Goldcrown collaboration. Constructed in pearlescent white vegan leather, the bags are cruelty-free and truly made with love, featuring our pared-down interpretation of the iconic “Bleeding Hearts” murals with edgy hot pink accents. The fun, vivid colors and relaxed hand-drawn aesthetic serve as instantaneous reminders that, like The Beatles sang, all you need is love.
